Pros and cons of Tokyo Rail Map+ Yokohama, Saitama, Chiba app for iPhone and iPad

Tokyo Rail Map+ Yokohama, Saitama, Chiba app good for

You have to know the Tokyo public transport is really complicated, with subway, mono rail, trains... Keep that in mind when you use it. For example the map will not tell you in certain time period some trains are express and wont stop at every stop. Sometime when it tells you that you have to walk to another train/subway station, it can be a kilometre away. But without a map like this, you might as well stay in your hotel.
I love how easy this app made it to find my way around Tokyo.
Worked great and made Tokyo metro easy to understand. Highly recommended!!
Living in Tokyo and I use this app daily. It does the job and is worth the money (though its a bit expensive -- but coverage of surrounding areas makes it worth the cost). The UI is fairly intuitive and I the look of information displayed is quite elegant (especially considering the complexity of Tokyos ICT system).. Not that there isnt room for improvement (trip routing/planning for one). If you plan to spend more than a few days in Tokyo, get it.
Fantastic app. I havent found any bugs and it consistently gives you the best route to take. It doesnt always account for if you dont want to change trains (like with luggage) which is the only option Id ask it to add. Choose between fastest or least transfers.
To go around within Tokyo proper the map is useful. But if the map can cover the greater Tokyo, then it will get my five star rating! Im impatiently waiting!

Some bad moments

Doesnt detail prices or times, so changing stations or lines isnt easy. This is good for planning a route, but not a commute.
What a great app! The subway and transfers in Japan have always been intimidating being a non-Japanese speaking person. This App gave me the confidence to go out and explore Tokyo beyond the area near my hotel without fear of getting lost.
This app is a great tool for those traveling to Tokyo. It proved to be invaluable on several occasions to get from point A to point B. I highly recommend this app if it is your first time traveling to Tokyo! I felt confident that I could find my way when wondering around the different districts in Tokyo!
Metro apps but only use this one on my trip. The only minus might be that itll be more helpful if its larger including Narita airport and Hakone. But overall its well worth the money. 5stars absolutely.
I know my way around Tokyo quite well. But I still need to consult a map. This app makes the figuring out of a route much easier and quicker.
Clean interface, clear graphics > nicely done. I like that I can look up the various lines with all its stations. I like that it shows via GPS where Im at. So far, so good. For the price though it is too basic, with its main (and serious) deficiencies being that it doesnt show options - in Tokyo theres always different ways how one could travel and also that it doesnt show the fare. Not to mention that apps like that - at least in other cities - also show when the next train is coming! I bought it today and put it to test and unfortunately the app actually failed quite miserably: the plan was to travel from Nishi-Ogikubo to Gaienmae. The (only) way the app shows is to take the Chuo line to Shinjuku, then the Oedo line to Aoyome-Itchome and then the Ginza line to Gaienmae. And this is about the worst of all possible options on could find plus the estimated travel time of 43 minutes became in reality 75 minutes! The way way better way would be to take Chuo to Shinjuku, JR Yamanote to Shibuya (or Yoyogi) and from there the Ginza line to Gaienmae. The difference is enormous, mostly because its a major walk through Shinjuku station to get to the Oeda line and another major walk there to get up again to the Ginza line. Its such a weird way to go about that this option doesnt even show up on Jorudan or Hyperdias websites. On my way back I took the other option described above and it sure was 30 minutes faster. Hmmmm…. needs major work, questionable value for the price asked.
