This app is a life saver

Thanks for this very usefull rail map. It is very simple to use and can get you anywhere in Tokyo without going crazy asking for directions.

This app is wonderful

Perfect to plan a travel in Tokyo.

It work

Probably almost the only app that is really helpful!! English and Japanese, easy to understand and to use. Not all the stars cause they should put on even the departure times of the trains. By the way is a great app!!!

Empowered to explore!

What a great app! The subway and transfers in Japan have always been intimidating being a non-Japanese speaking person. This App gave me the confidence to go out and explore Tokyo beyond the area near my hotel without fear of getting lost.

Invaluable App!

This app is a great tool for those traveling to Tokyo. It proved to be invaluable on several occasions to get from point A to point B. I highly recommend this app if it is your first time traveling to Tokyo! I felt confident that I could find my way when wondering around the different districts in Tokyo!

Best Tokyo metro app ever. I just came back from Tokyo for the first time. I bought a couple of

Metro apps but only use this one on my trip. The only minus might be that itll be more helpful if its larger including Narita airport and Hakone. But overall its well worth the money. 5stars absolutely.

Great to have even for those who know

I know my way around Tokyo quite well. But I still need to consult a map. This app makes the figuring out of a route much easier and quicker.

its OK - not really good enough though

Clean interface, clear graphics > nicely done. I like that I can look up the various lines with all its stations. I like that it shows via GPS where Im at. So far, so good. For the price though it is too basic, with its main (and serious) deficiencies being that it doesnt show options - in Tokyo theres always different ways how one could travel and also that it doesnt show the fare. Not to mention that apps like that - at least in other cities - also show when the next train is coming! I bought it today and put it to test and unfortunately the app actually failed quite miserably: the plan was to travel from Nishi-Ogikubo to Gaienmae. The (only) way the app shows is to take the Chuo line to Shinjuku, then the Oedo line to Aoyome-Itchome and then the Ginza line to Gaienmae. And this is about the worst of all possible options on could find plus the estimated travel time of 43 minutes became in reality 75 minutes! The way way better way would be to take Chuo to Shinjuku, JR Yamanote to Shibuya (or Yoyogi) and from there the Ginza line to Gaienmae. The difference is enormous, mostly because its a major walk through Shinjuku station to get to the Oeda line and another major walk there to get up again to the Ginza line. Its such a weird way to go about that this option doesnt even show up on Jorudan or Hyperdias websites. On my way back I took the other option described above and it sure was 30 minutes faster. Hmmmm…. needs major work, questionable value for the price asked.

Super :)

The best.

Traveling Around Tokyo

This app was really helpful during my two weeks in Tokyo. I took my iPad with me everywhere that I went and never got lost thanks to this app. The only improvement that it needs is that if it told you what the fair was from start to exit. After my second day in Tokyo, I just bought a Suica card which makes it easy. If you are going to Tokyo, get this app, and buy a Suica card from the ticket machine. You will NEVER get lost.

Easy and it works!

I am new to Tokyo and today managed a cross-city journey using this app without mishap. Easy, clear and great!

Best Tokyo subway guide

Best one with routing guide for western users. Also bought offline version but lite version probably good enough.

A Must for Tokyo Visitors!

I just returned from my first daunting and tremendous visit to Tokyo and I could not have done my train travel without this fantastically elegant, simple and comprehensive app. As an English speaker who knows no Japanese, much less how to get from Tamachi Station to Shimo-Kitazawa, I depended on this app to safely, correctly and calmly navigate the crowded and frantic train system. Not once did I even consult a paper map. I thank you a thousand times over for this and for helping to make my Tokyo visit a much less stressful one.

Great Tokyo Metro App

Great app for getting around Tokyos metro. Can be used offline to search routes, etc.

Highly recommended, with caveats

This app brought me, a first timer in Tokyo and in Asia per se, some significant comfort (on arrival I felt disoriented and wasnt sure where to start, despite the Apple Maps app and the excellent Tokyo City Guide iBook). It quickly finds routes based on your current location and English place names, shows a tasteful animation of a journeys stops, and, so far in iOS 7.0.3 for me, is very solid and works great on iPad and iPhone. The app interoperates well with Apple Maps… specify a start and end location in Maps, tap the bus tab in the directions popover and then tap Route, and pick Rail Map from the list of helper apps. Bottom line: I definitely recommend the Tokyo Rail Map app. (As for the question of fares, which some reviewers raise, I honestly dont see how adding fare info to this app would help. I dont have that feature in my other transit apps and have never missed it. So no stars off in regard to that!) • Update, having used the app for five days: Taking off one star (from 5 down to 4) for a couple of reasons: indeed, as other reviewers mention, indication of fares would, after all, be very useful—especially if youre running out of Yen. (Ack!) Also, more importantly, in many instances one must leave a station and walk to another to continue a trip on a different line. As far as I can tell, the app does not expose this fact and does not provide walking directions. Sometimes its really quite tricky and very few folks that I encountered spoke English. However, this is still a beautiful app and is better than the other ones I saw expats using and recommending to me (till I showed them this one).

Appears Very Useful

A clean, well designed interface for an app that looks like it will provide first rate support for navigating the Tokyo subway system. Many other apps make that claim but so far, this is the first one I have found that looks like it will deliver. Will put to the real test and update with actual usage experience after an upcoming trip.

First time use

I will be taking a trip to Tokyo so I needed a good train app that I could input start and stop points, reading about it it looks like it would, but after I purchased it and tried it very disappointed that there are no airport stations for Haneda or Narita, also one of the stations I need to go to for work was not listed. Will try again once in Tokyo.

Purdy.

Nice, beautifully-designed and accurate map. Very useful.

Needs to be expanded

I have a paper printed train line map of the greater Tokyo area. This e-version does not show as many station as the paper map version does. Such as the ones leading up to Yokohama (a major city). It crops them off at the border. If a future update or upgrade maps out more station details.... Ill get it and give it five (5) Stars.

Great App

Could not have made it around Tokyo for 3 weeks without this app!
