You have to know the Tokyo public transport is really complicated, with subway, mono rail, trains... Keep that in mind when you use it. For example the map will not tell you in certain time period some trains are express and wont stop at every stop. Sometime when it tells you that you have to walk to another train/subway station, it can be a kilometre away. But without a map like this, you might as well stay in your hotel.

I love how easy this app made it to find my way around Tokyo.

The App shows all the stations but if you desire to maximize (by time or routing or other metric), this app will not do it. It only shows local trains between distant / major stations so if you are looking for a way to figure out when to jump on a local, express,limited express, unlimited, this will not do it. You will need google maps live which does a GREAT job for you. BUT if you are off line the tokyo rail map lite is all you need if you have a decent handle on the train system. If you are very beginner at this, then the pro version can be helpful.

Living in Tokyo and I use this app daily. It does the job and is worth the money (though its a bit expensive -- but coverage of surrounding areas makes it worth the cost). The UI is fairly intuitive and I the look of information displayed is quite elegant (especially considering the complexity of Tokyos ICT system).. Not that there isnt room for improvement (trip routing/planning for one). If you plan to spend more than a few days in Tokyo, get it.

Fantastic app. I havent found any bugs and it consistently gives you the best route to take. It doesnt always account for if you dont want to change trains (like with luggage) which is the only option Id ask it to add. Choose between fastest or least transfers.

If they included alternate routes instead of just one this would get 5 stars. Sometimes it gives really weird and needlessly long directions to a destination.

To go around within Tokyo proper the map is useful. But if the map can cover the greater Tokyo, then it will get my five star rating! Im impatiently waiting!

This is the best app I found for figuring out the Tokyo Metro. Make sure you buy the full version as the Lite version requires an internet connection. Very easy to use and it cobers a huge area. They also offer other cities, like Osaka, but also Paris, etc. Dont leave homewithout it!

I will be visiting Japan this summer and this app seems pretty easy to use so far. However please incorporate a fare calculator! This will be helpful in budget planning and those using suica and pasmo cards.

As someone currently living in Tokyo, this is one of the most powerful and invaluable mapping tools Ive ever seen. I would love to see train fares added to the routes in the future.

Takao is in Tokyo. This does not include Takao (or a lot of other places within Tokyo) it is incomplete!

This app provides us a colourful railway map and transfer infomation in user-friendly way. It shows appropriate amount (not too much, I mean) of data on the smartphone. English is also available, so you can use this easily even if you dont know 漢字.

Doesnt detail prices or times, so changing stations or lines isnt easy. This is good for planning a route, but not a commute.

I absolutely love this app. For those who take the train a lot, this app is a must; hovewer, ever since the update, the app, at least for, me crashes after I open it. Please fix!
